AVIXA Strengthens its Presence Among Members of the AV Industry in the Andean Region
During the second half of October, the city of Bogotá, Colombia, became the Latin American headquarters of AVIXA™. For the 10th edition of InfoComm Colombia, AVIXA organized multiple activities focused on the development of the local and regional AV industry, including education for the Certified Technology Specialist™ (CTS®) exam.
From October 17-19, 21 professionals from Colombia and Panama took the CTS Prep course, taught by Nelson Baumgratz, CTS-D, South American Regional Manager, AVIXA.
The activities continued with the traditional AVIXA Women's Council Networking Breakfast on Oct. 22, organized by Ana María Restrepo, AVIXA’s Regional Manager for Southern Central America and the Andean Region. This year, 40 women met and exchanged their point of views and ideas. Sara Arandia, RLA LatAm, shared her experience as coordinator of the implementation of a complete audiovisual automation solution at the Convention Center of the Hilton Bogotá Corferias Hotel.
Pre-conference activities closed with an AVIXA cocktail and networking event. As always, the atmosphere of friendship and enthusiasm reigned among those present, who took the opportunity to greet old friends and build ties with new colleagues.
All this served as a preamble for the 10th edition of InfoComm Colombia exhibition, which drew thousands of visitors to Corferias, Grán Salón. Conference goers were able to meet with AVIXA’s local team as well as managers from AVIXA’s global headquarters located in Fairfax, Virginia.
The first day of InfoComm Colombia was full of events, from the press conference, the traditional inaugural ribbon cutting, and the celebration for the 10 editions of the show in Colombia.
This first day also marked the beginning of the professional development program, with the AVIXA training sessions focusing on live events, houses of worship, control rooms, and smart homes. In total, 35 sessions were given by experts from different companies and organizations who shared their knowledge with the attendees.
On the second day of the show, 26 students and teachers from the Audio Production Technology and Multimedia Engineering degree programs of the Universidad Nacional Abierta y a Distancia (UNAD) Colombia participated in the student tour. Students learned about the AV industry by listening to experts and speaking with InfoComm exhibitors. Additionally, they visited the facilities of the new Ágora Bogotá Convention Center, where they observed the application of AV technology.
AVIXA’s booth served as a meeting and dialogue space for industry professionals, many of whom joined the association recently. In total, 123 people decided to join AVIXA at the show.
AVIXA thanks the members and supporting exhibitors, Eleven Producciones and RLA LatAm, for their contributions to the presence and contents of the AVIXA space. RLA LatAm supported the digital signage solution, which showcased the membership and training programs, while Eleven Producciones sponsored the contents, installation, and operation of the LED screen that acted as the centerpiece of the AVIXA booth.
InfoComm Colombia 2019 wrapped with an outstanding attendance of 4,787 people, a figure that demonstrates the interest of professionals in the region to keep up to date on technical knowledge and best practices. The show received visitors from different cities in Colombia, as well as from other countries such as Peru, Ecuador, Panama, Venezuela, Guatemala, Chile, Argentina, and Brazil. The tour of InfoComm Latin America shows will kick off again in April 2020 with InfoComm Brazil in Sao Paulo.
