Networking Technology for AV Professionals: In-Person Training at InfoComm 2025

This course is a core knowledge class for all AV professionals. You will learn the basics of networking from an AV perspective, while gaining the tools you need to have a meaningful conversation with your IT peers.  You will be introduced to the OSI model and will delve into what comprises a network and how traffic moves on the network.  This course will provide overviews of current streaming technologies and will provide some guidance on what needs to be implemented by the network team for a successful deployment.

Course features:

This three-day classroom course taught over eight hours per day. 

By the end of the course, you will:

  • Be able to review and discuss AV network requirements with your IT stakeholders
  • Compare and contrast the most common network-based AV transmission protocols
  • Interpret IP addresses and subnets
  • Differentiate between multicast and unicast implementation strategies
  • Contrast different streaming technologies and their bandwidth implications
  • Identify network security threats and countermeasures
  • Use common network diagnostic tools and perform basic network troubleshooting
