Key Takeaways from D=SIGN Power Hour: Sensors and Triggers to Make Ordinary Screens Intelligent

Sensors and triggers can open new dimensions of engagement and interaction for audiences. Our panel discussed the future of screens and provided insights into the use of Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and other applications, such as gesture control and AI, to craft personalized and immersive user experiences. Samantha Powell, Manager, Industry Advocacy at AVIXA, was joined by Meghan Athavale, CEO at LUMOplay, Brandon Harp, Director of Digital Experiences at McCann Systems, and George Preston, VP Sales North America at SpinetiX. They presented some important points to consider:

  • There are two uses for sensors – providing data that is relevant to the audience, such as very localized weather, and detecting the audience themselves to provide a personalized experience.
  • Identify what data needs to be protected like personally identifiable info and keep in mind that whoever is collecting the data is responsible for protecting it. It can be done anonymously and processed locally, and data can be dumped when you’re done using it.
  • The use of sensors and triggers is growing across all verticals and functions.
