CTS 1: AV Technology (Previously Essentials of AV Technology) establishes the foundational knowledge required for aspiring AV professionals. It is the first course in a two-course series that is designed to prepare learners with the essential knowledge, skills, and abilities that are essential to the CTS Exam.
WHO SHOULD TAKE THIS COURSE, Professionals who:
• Plan to take the CTS® Exam within the next few years
• Work as AV technicians or in an adjacent position
• Coordinate and collaborate with AV professionals and wish to deepen their knowledge of AV systems, technology, and the industry itself.

COURSE FEATURES, Course objectives include:
• Explain the scope and significance of the AV industry and describe the role of standards within it.
• Explain the fundamental scientific principles that underpin the AV industry, including sound, light, and electricity.
• Identify the components of audio and video systems for various AV setups.
• Describe the role of networking in AV systems.
• Describe the purpose and components of control systems in AV technology.
• Identify the different roles within the AV industry, fundamentals or AV project management, and effective communication skills.
It is highly recommended that that upon completion of this course learners proceed to the next course in the series: CTS 2. Completion of this course in no way guarantees participants will pass the CTS exam, nor will this program cover all the topics listed in the exam content outline.
By registering for this course, you are not signing up for the CTS exam. The CTS exam must be applied for, paid for, and then scheduled separately at a Pearson Vue testing center. Candidates should review the CTS candidate handbook to learn more about the CTS Exam.
