Description
AVIXA has long offered courses on traditional AV systems and signals, but there has been an increasing need for courses about networking technology from an AV perspective. AV and IT have converged, and AV professionals need to know the basics of IP networking. Networking Technologyteaches you networking basics and explains how concepts from IT apply to the AV industry. Now in its second iteration, this course includes more in-depth discussions of AV transport protocols and common networking configurations for AV purposes.
About Networking Technology
Network Technologyintroduces you to the basics of Ethernet and IP networking. It starts by defining the network and then spotlights each layer of the Open Systems Interconnection model, which provides a valuable learning model for understanding how networking works. This course aims to arm you with the knowledge and vocabulary to speak intelligently about AV network requirements with your IT stakeholders.
This course contains the following modules:
What is a Network?
How Data is Encoded and Transported
Common Networking Hardware and Software
The Physical Layer
The Data Link Layer
The Network Layer
The Transport and Upper Layers
Network Security
Basic Network Design
Troubleshooting Networked Systems
Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:
Identify and explain common network components
Describe how data is transmitted from endpoint to endpoint over an IP or Ethernet network
Understand the main AV network transport protocols
Assess real-world examples of AVoIP configurations and applications
Recognize and address common network security concerns
Choose appropriate methods for performing basic network troubleshooting
