First week of November, AV professionals from across the industry gathered in London and Dublin to network, share ideas and hear from leading lights in technology and innovation at Xchange Live:TRENDS.

SOAS University of London and Dublin City University played host to Sennheiser, Jabra, Audinate, Logitech, X2O Media and Intel in a day of inspiring and insightful addresses which were also laden with AVIXA Renewal Units for those looking to maintain the industry certifications.

From deep-dives into transforming media networks for the future, designing impactful hybrid learning spaces and the evermore-present AI trend to name but a few subjects discussed, there really was something for everyone.

Dublin attendees were also treated to guest presentations from Sam Phenix (Phenix Consulting and former AVIXA board member) on the development of the AVIXA Women’s Council in Ireland and Justin Dawson (Dublin City University and AllThingsTech.IE podcast) on the first anniversary of his Irish AV community group AVGroup.IE.

This presentation is for those seeking insights into designing scalable, highly available, and secure media networks, and extending them to leverage cloud-based production workflows. We’ll explore critical considerations when extending your on-prem network and examine how the AV industry can benefit from cloud computing.

By the end of this presentation, you’ll understand how to effectively design and manage media networks that scale securely.
We’ll also cover how to take advantage of the cloud’s virtually limitless computing power, resource pooling, and virtualization to enhance performance, efficiency, and collaboration.
Finally, you'll see how the AV industry is embracing cloud solutions for more flexible and powerful network management and production.

This session will look at the AV to IT convergence trend and how a shift to IP networks supports this transformation with an update on recent standardization efforts. It will cover how Intel, as the processing heart of the IT ecosystem, is supporting this AV industry transformation with a technical “look under the hood” at innovations, including some borrowed from the IT world, and how these apply to end use cases.

As an extension of the themes, Ben will lead a discussion on AI use cases in Professional-AV and explain how a democratised off-the-shelf compute strategy can support making this reality in our products today.

Microsoft Teams Rooms provide a powerful platform for remote and in-person collaboration, but there are a number of key considerations to keep in mind when setting up and using these systems. This session will cover the 10 most important considerations for Microsoft Teams Rooms, including:

Network infrastructure and bandwidth requirements
Hardware and device compatibility
Room layout and acoustics
Audio and video quality settings
Security and compliance
Integration with other systems and platforms
Management and monitoring tools
User training and support
Meeting scheduling and scheduling integrations
Room usage analytics and reporting

By understanding these considerations, attendees will be better equipped to design, implement, and use Microsoft Teams Rooms effectively in their own organizations. This session will be beneficial for IT and AV professionals, as well as managers and executives who are responsible for collaboration and communication within their organizations

After completing his PhD from Imperial College London, Ben joined Altera in 2008, as market segment owner and system architect for Pro-AV business. In 2015, he moved to Intel's Internet of Things Group supporting architect-level discussions with clients on video, AI and workload consolidation.

He now works as Principal Engineer focused on solution architecture of Intel's xPU portfolio for video applications. Ben holds eight patent disclosures and seven technical publications including in the Journal of Computers and SMPTE Motion Imaging Journal.

Ahmed Shalabi is a Senior Design Consultant at Audinate, specializing in scalable, flexible media networks for broadcast, media, and Pro AV industries.

With expertise in media networks, spatial audio, film sound, and music production, he has published extensively and is actively involved in the Audio Engineering Society (AES), serving on the UK Executive Committee and various standards working groups. As a PhD candidate, he researches personalized audio for TV and streaming, contributing to the future of media technology

With over 20 years of experience within the Audio Visual industry, Inesh Patel has held various technical sales roles covering both corporate and higher education sectors, as well as customers within house of worship, visitor attractions and hire and events. Inesh joined Sennheiser UK in 2017 as Channel Sales Manager, and currently works as a Business Development Manager for UK and Ireland focusing on providing his technical knowledge to endusers in the Corporate and Higher Education sectors.

Over the years, his knowledge of the trends in different market sectors and technical ‘know how’ has provided invaluable support to AV dealers, AV consultants and end users in having confidence in using Sennheiser solutions for projects of various complexity.

James joined Jabra in 2011 as Enterprise Account Manager. He moved into Strategic Alliances in 2015, looking after key alliance partnerships such as Mitel, Avaya, Zoom and others.

When Jabra diversified into Video in 2019, James was promoted to Video Solutions Director overseeing all sales, marketing & commercial activities within the EMEA North region, as well as managing the Jabra EMEA North Video team.

Miguel Garcia is the Senior Technical Training Manager for Audinate in EMEA. Since graduating from the University of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering of the National Polytechnic Institute in Mexico, with a degree in Communications and Electronics Engineering with a Specialty in Acoustics, Miguel has worked in various media in the Audio Visual industry.

Along with his activities, he has participated as a speaker on various occasions for Infocomm México, Soundcheck Xpo Tradeshow, AES, Universities such as Tec. De Monterrey, GMartell, IPN, SAE, among many others.

Miguel has been with Audinate for almost 5 years, first working as Technical Training Manager for the LATAM region and now he is in charge of the EMEA region, giving specialized courses in Dante such as the Mastery Course.

Nick White works for X2O Media and is the Country Manager for UK & Ireland.

Nick has over 15 years of experience in the AV and technology industry and has supported both educational and corporate customers to adopt remote and hybrid learning technology.

Nick understands the challenges organizations face with hybrid learning and supports them to evolve their learning and training programs to develop the workforce of the future.

Randy Chapman is an Office Apps & Services MVP, a Blogger & Podcaster at UCStatus.com & NoJitter.com, Speaker, Youtuber, Conference Organiser for Commsverse.com and all-around evangelist for Microsoft Teams.

Randy is a 13+ year veteran of Microsoft UC with 25+ years in voice and data. Randy works as a Solutions Engineer, Video Collaboration at Logitech. He helps clients all over the world understand and realise the benefits of Microsoft UC solutions. Including Microsoft Teams Audio, Video & Microsoft Teams Rooms.

Tyrone is the Video Alliances Manager for Northern Europe at Jabra. With over six years of experience at Jabra, Tyrone began his journey in Sales, advancing his role in Alliances. His passion for technology, rooted in his background in Consumer Electronics, fuels his excitement for the AV industry.

Tyrone’s expertise in building joint solutions through strategic partnerships with Jabra's PanaCast series of video collaboration solutions has been instrumental in supporting Jabra’s growth in the region.
